First discovered in 1818 by Hume, Throsby and Smith, Tallong is an unspoilt landscape surrounded by breathtaking scenery and natural bushland, abundant with native flora and fauna.
Tallong, could be described as a “Gateway to the Southern Highlands.” It is nestled in an elevated tableland etched to varying degrees by the Shoalhaven River and its tributaries foremost of which is Barber’s Creek. Visitors often marvel at the stunning scenery viewed from Long Point and Badgery's lookouts, whilst bush walkers and keen hikers often take advantage of trails to and camping in the Shoalhaven River valley.
Tallong has long been of interest to geologists and naturalists with its ancient geological formations, interesting soil structures, preserved bushland habitats and scenic vistas.
Tallong, being close to the Hume Highway, is a comfortable drive to major centres such as Sydney and Canberra. Nearby large towns, such as Bowral and Goulburn, cater to all of life’s necessities such as shopping, medical facilities and schools and provide access to a wide array of sporting, entertainment, and cultural pursuits.

A comfortable 90-minute drive will see you in the Nations Capital, on one of Wollongong’s beaches or in Sydney’s West. Two hours puts you at the airport with only one set of traffic lights.
